Defeating Mushroom No. 13

Mushroom No. 13 is the final Heartless in the Mushroom XIII group in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. To defeat it, you must first complete the challenges issued by the other twelve Mushrooms. Each Mushroom must be satisfied in a special mini-game, and as you complete their challenges, your results are recorded in Jiminy's Journal.

Once you have completed the challenges of the twelve Mushrooms, head to the Great Maw in Radiant Garden, where the 1000 Heartless battle took place. Here, you will find the twelve Mushrooms assembled, and a beam of light will appear. Approach the light, and a "Look Up" Reaction Command will appear. Activate it, and Mushroom No. 13 will descend from above.

After a cutscene, a "Ready, Go!" Reaction Command will appear. Activating this will result in Mushroom No. 13 rewarding you with the Winner's Proof Keyblade and the Proof of Peace. With this, you have defeated Mushroom No. 13, and it will ascend into the sky with the other Mushrooms.

While you can still challenge the other twelve Mushrooms, note that Mushroom No. 13 will not appear again once defeated. Its non-hostile nature compared to the others references Roxas, making it unusual compared to the rest of the Organization.

  • Mushroom No. 6: This Mushroom must be defeated in 45 seconds. Use magic like Firaga, Blizzaga, and Thundaga depending on the clones' formations. Utilize Final Form to boost your magic and strike adjacent foes.
  • Mushroom No. 11: Equip all Finishing Plus abilities and the Rumbling Rose Keyblade. Go into Wisdom Form and shoot the Mushroom continuously to take down the hit counter to zero within 19 seconds.

Mushroom XIII appearance

The Mushroom XIII is a group of enemies exclusive to the Final Mix version of Kingdom Hearts II. They are a group of Emblem Heartless, each with a specific requirement to fulfil and a unique appearance.

All thirteen Heartless that make up the Mushroom XIII share a common appearance. They all have spherical, pitch-black heads and glowing yellow eyes. They wear black coats, reminiscent of those worn by the members of Organization XIII. These coats have zippers, pull-strings, and hoods that resemble mushroom caps with twin angular black spirals. The Heartless emblem is displayed on the front of each coat. The only differences in their appearances are the numbers on their backs and their sizes. Each member has a different silver Roman numeral from I to XIII on their backs, representing their rank. The sizes of the Mushroom XIII vary, with No. V being the largest and No. VIII being the smallest.

The Mushroom XIII appear in the game once the world that they reside in is cleared completely, including all visits and the defeat of Xemnas in The World That Never Was. They must be satisfied by fulfilling certain conditions and can be defeated by completing the challenges in a special mini-game.

Each Mushroom drops Tranquil Shards, Stones, Gems, and Crystals, as well as unique weapons for Goofy and Donald Duck. The even-numbered Mushrooms drop Shields for Goofy, while the odd-numbered Mushrooms drop Staves for Donald Duck. Defeating all the Mushrooms and satisfying their requirements is one of the necessary steps to obtain the Gold Crown.

Defeating Mushroom No. 6

To defeat Mushroom No. 6, it is recommended to take advantage of the Final Form, which allows powerful magic and makes the Keyblades strike adjacent foes when gliding or jumping. This makes it much easier to defeat the mushrooms in more difficult formations.

  • Equip Ultima Weapon on your normal form. Its unique ability, MP Hastega, will be useful for regenerating your MP faster.
  • Equip Photon Debugger on your Final Form.
  • Place Ethers in all your item slots, as you will be using Thundaga frequently.
  • Use Thundaga to wipe out the clones quickly. Cast it from the middle of the area to ensure you are within range of the clones.
  • Use an Ether when your MP runs low, but before it runs out, to lessen the time needed to charge your MP.
  • Use Firaga when the clones appear in circles, Blizzaga when they appear in straight lines, and Thundaga when they appear in vertical lines.

Defeating Mushroom No. 5

Mushroom No. 5 can be found in the Treasure Room of the Cave Wonders in Agrabah and represents Lexaeus. It is the largest of the Mushroom Heartless. To defeat Mushroom No. 5, you must drain its health within 10 seconds. Its health will be continuously restored, so the speed of your attacks must be faster than its rate of healing.

Begin by equipping your strongest Keyblades, one to Sora and one to Final Form's second Keyblade slot. Next, fill Sora's item slots with cheap items like Potions or Ethers, which can be set to a shortcut to save time. Make sure to also equip the Keyblade with its own Finishing Plus ability, as this will be useful in dealing a great number of hits.

Once you are equipped, go into Final Form and start the duel. Stick close to the mushroom and use the items you've set to your item slots and the shortcut. You can also use Limit Form, Negative Combo, Finishing Plus x2 and Rumbling Rose, and just mash Normal Combos. Zantetsuken takes off 3/4 of a bar at 50 strength, and you get two per combo.

While defeating Mushroom No. 5 may seem like a difficult task, with the right strategy and equipment, it can be completed fairly easily.

Defeating Mushroom No. 11

Mushroom No. 11 can be found at the Waterway of Timeless River, accessible through the door in the Hall of the Cornerstone at Disney Castle, and represents Marluxia. Like the hit counter Marluxia places over Sora, this mushroom also has a hit counter over its head. However, unlike the battle with Marluxia, this hit counter must be taken down to zero, and to make matters more challenging, within the short time span of 19 seconds.

To defeat Mushroom No. 11, it is recommended to equip all Finishing Plus abilities and the Rumbling Rose Keyblade (which has its own Finishing Plus ability attached to it). Go into Wisdom Form and begin the duel, making sure to shoot the mushroom continuously. This strategy makes use of the Wisdom Form's finisher, which deals a great number of hits with its many shots. There are other strategies to defeating this mushroom, but this is the simplest, dealing more than enough hits within the time limit.

Mushroom XIII are a group of Emblem Heartless that appears in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. All thirteen Heartless that make up the group wear black coats and, like other Mushroom Heartless, must be satisfied in a special mini-game in order to be defeated. As Sora completes the challenges issued by the Mushroom XIII, his results are recorded in Jiminy's Journal. When defeated, each of the Mushroom XIII drops Tranquility materials. The six even-numbered Mushroom Heartless drop Shields for Goofy to wield, while the odd-numbered ones drop Staves for Donald Duck.

To satisfy a Mushroom, you must score enough points or complete the challenge within a certain amount of time, so that your opponent throws confetti in the air before disappearing at the end of a challenge. These mushrooms are also the only source of Tranquility materials in the game.
