Drain the moat

To drain the moat in the Mushroom Kingdom, you must first locate the posts around the bottom of the moat. Swim around and pull out all the posts to drain the water. Once the moat is drained, you will be able to find a pipe at the bottom of one of the walls.

Before you drain the moat, you will need to locate Yoshi. To do this, you must first find a scarecrow on the west side of Peach's Castle. Throw your cap at the scarecrow to reveal a staircase that you can climb to reach the castle's roof. Once on the roof, head to the northeast corner to find Yoshi's egg. Hatch the egg and capture Yoshi.

With Yoshi, you can now drop down and eat the fruit blocking the pipe. You will need to remove the fruit to access the final rematch against the Lord of Lightning from the Ruined Kingdom. The fight takes place inside the pipe in the moat surrounding the castle.

It is important to note that the ground is icy, so Mario will slide while running. Additionally, the lightning that runs along the ground when the dragon slams its head will be wavy, making it more challenging to avoid.

Find Yoshi

To find Yoshi in the Mushroom Kingdom, you must first drain the moat surrounding Peach's Castle. To do this, swim around the bottom of the moat and pull out all the posts. With the moat drained, you will find Yoshi's egg on the roof of the castle.

The easiest way to get onto the roof is to go to the west side of the castle, where you will find a scarecrow. Throw Cappy at the scarecrow to conjure up some stairs that lead to the roof. Alternatively, you can use the old trick of jumping from the central tower to reach the roof. Once on the roof, you will find Yoshi's egg on the flatter part, near a Power Moon. Strike the egg with Cappy to reveal Yoshi.

Note that if you are playing Super Mario 64 DS, Yoshi is playable and therefore you will not be able to meet him. Additionally, you will need 150 stars (as opposed to 120 in the Nintendo 64 game) for the cannon to open so you can get to the top of the roof.

Defeat the Lord of Lightning

To defeat the Lord of Lightning, also known as the Ruined Dragon, in Super Mario Odyssey, players must first avoid the dragon's initial lightning attacks. The dragon will then slam its head onto the ground, emitting electric waves that must be avoided. Mario must then jump onto the dragon's head and use Cappy to remove the golden pillars stuck in its head. After this, Mario can perform a ground pound on the dragon's head.

In the next phase, the Lord of Lightning will perform its lightning attack more quickly, leaving players with fewer opportunities to dodge. The head slam will also be more intense, and players will have to pull out more metal objects. After this phase, players can perform another ground pound on the dragon's head.

In the final phase, the dragon will breathe out lightning strikes that explode into rolling blades. After this, it will slam into the ground again, emitting even more intersecting waves of electricity. Players must find a spot where the waves create safety circles to jump and wait them out. Players will then need to pull out more swords and wait for another opportunity to attack. Finally, players can perform one last ground pound to defeat the Lord of Lightning.

Collect Power Moons

To collect Power Moons in the Mushroom Kingdom, you must first defeat Bowser in the Moon Kingdom and then travel back to the Mushroom Kingdom with Princess Peach. There are 104 Power Moons to find in this Kingdom, and here are some ways to collect them:

Yoshi's Fruit Moons

You can find Yoshi at the top of Peach's Castle. Capture him and explore the kingdom, eating fruits along the way. Eating 10 fruits will reward you with a Power Moon. Eating 20 fruits will get you another Power Moon. Keep exploring the kingdom, grabbing fruits from treetops and in the open. Eating 30 fruits will get you another Power Moon.

Sheep Herder Moons

In the West quadrant of the Mushroom Kingdom, you'll find a Toad that has lost his sheep. There are six sheep to find and bring back to Toad's pen. Once you've herdered all six sheep into the pen, you'll receive a Power Moon.

Toad Defender Moon

Just above the Goomba Woods, there is a Toad guarding a tunnel to a Power Moon on a small ledge. If you capture a Goomba and walk over to him, he'll run away, leaving the tunnel free for you to collect the Power Moon.

Forever Onward, Captain Toad! Moon

Captain Toad is sitting on top of the Crazy Cap store. Perform a backflip, and then a dive, from the nearby crates to reach him. He'll give you a Power Moon when you talk to him.

Jammin' in the Mushroom Kingdom Moon

Talk to the headphone-wearing Toad standing just west of the fountain. If you play him any of the 8-bit songs from your collection, he'll reward you with a Power Moon.

Purchase this Power Moon from the Kingdom's Crazy Cap store for 100 gold coins.

Mushroom Kingdom Regular Cup Moon

Head to the lake in the south to find a Koopa who will challenge you to a race for a Power Moon. This race is relatively simple to win. Head straight from the starting point, then up and around until you can head towards the goal in a straight line. Make sure to capture the Rocket Flowers along the way.

Mushroom Kingdom Master Cup Moon

In the same location as the Power Moon above, talk to the Koopa for a second time to start a second race for a second Power Moon.

Sunken Star in the Sea of Clouds Moon

Look for the mushroom ship parked at the fountain, then perform a Triple Jump off the wooden crates to the side of it. Drop down from the blue edge to land on a walkway concealed by the clouds, allowing you to reach this Power Moon.

Collect More Power Moons

There are many more Power Moons to collect in the Mushroom Kingdom. Speak with the Archivist Toadette inside the castle to learn about additional Power Moons you can earn through personal achievements, landmarks, and records.

Talk to Archivist Toadette

To drain the Mushroom Kingdom, you must first locate the moat surrounding Peach's Castle. There are posts positioned around the bottom of the moat; swim around and pull them out to drain the water. Once the moat is drained, you can enter the green pipe on the eastern wall of the castle to find another boss rematch painting.

Now, it's time to talk to Archivist Toadette, who can be found near the throne inside Princess Peach's Castle. She will give you Power Moons for achievements, landmarks, and records completed across the game. You can check your progress with all of them in the Mushroom Kingdom's Power Moon List via your Map. These make up sixty-one of the 104 Moons in the Mushroom Kingdom.

Toadette will only interact with you if she has a Star to give you; an easy way to tell is if she's clapping. You can also unlock more Power Moons by talking to her, depending on your performance.

With the moat drained, you can bring the Goombette on the north side of the castle a boyfriend. Capture and stack up all the Goombas in Goomba Woods, then walk them back to the north side of the castle, and drop down into the moat to make a love connection.
